Last Updated: April 09, 2025

At Beats Per Minute ("BPM," "we," "us," or "our"), we value your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use our application (the "App"), which allows you to create Spotify playlists filtered by specific tempo ranges (beats per minute, or "BPM"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information to provide and improve the App's functionality. The types of information we collect include:

1.1 Information You Provide via Spotify

BPM integrates with your Spotify account using Spotify's OAuth authentication. When you connect your Spotify account, we may collect:

  • Basic Profile Information: Your Spotify username, display name, and profile ID (used for account management).
  • Spotify Data: Access to your private playlists, liked songs, and other library content (used to source tracks for BPM-filtered playlists).

We only collect this data with your explicit permission through Spotify's OAuth process.

1.2 Information Generated by Your Use

  • Playlist Data: Details about the playlists you create in the App, such as tempo ranges and track selections.
  • Usage Data: Technical information about how you interact with the App (e.g., features used, session duration), collected to improve performance and user experience.

1.3 Information We Do Not Collect

  • We do not collect sensitive personal information like your email address, payment details, or precise location unless explicitly provided by you (e.g., in a support request).
  • We do not access audio content or lyrics directly, only metadata provided by Spotify.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To Provide the Service: Authenticate your Spotify account, read your playlists and liked songs, and create new BPM-filtered playlists.
  • To Improve the App: Analyze usage patterns to enhance functionality and fix issues.
  • To Communicate: Respond to your inquiries or provide support if you contact us.
  • To Comply: Meet legal obligations or enforce our Terms and Conditions.

We do not use your data for advertising or sell it to third parties.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not share your personal information except in these limited cases:

  • Spotify: Data is processed via Spotify's API, and playlists you create are stored in your Spotify account, subject to Spotify's Privacy Policy (available at spotify.com/legal).
  • Service Providers: We may use third-party tools (e.g., hosting or analytics providers) to operate the App, but they are bound to confidentiality and only process data on our behalf.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose data if required by law, such as in response to a court order or to protect our rights.

4. Data Storage and Security

  • Storage: Data is stored securely on our servers and only retained as long as necessary to provide the App's services or comply with legal obligations.
  • Security: We use reasonable measures (e.g., encryption, access controls) to protect your data from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. However, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g., under GDPR or CCPA), you may have rights such as:

  • Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Deletion: Ask us to delete your data (though this may limit your ability to use the App).
  • Revoke Access: Disconnect BPM from your Spotify account at any time via Spotify's settings (this stops our access to your data).

To exercise these rights, contact us at support@getbpm.app. Note that your Spotify data is also subject to Spotify's privacy practices.

6. Cookies and Tracking

The App does not use cookies directly. However, if we implement analytics tools in the future, we may use basic tracking technologies to collect usage data. We will update this Privacy Policy if such changes occur.

7. Third-Party Links and Services

BPM integrates with Spotify, a third-party service. Spotify's Privacy Policy governs how they handle your data. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of Spotify or other external services you may link to via the App.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for users under 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction to use Spotify). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If we learn such data has been collected, we will delete it promptly.

9. International Data Transfers

If you use the App outside the United States, your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States. We ensure such transfers comply with applicable data protection laws.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted in the App or on our website (if applicable), and the "Last Updated" date will reflect the change. Your continued use of the App after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

11. Contact Us
